A special day

Today is a great day because this was the day that 16 years ago, Ms. Sophira Chong was born into Malaysia.

Blessed birthday, kiddo. And may you have many more to come. Thanks for being such an awesome ex-student, but even more so... thank you so much for being a friend in my time of need. I remember your advices and I remember your wisdom ;)

Somehow, this girl gets my soft spot. I think I mother her a little too much :P But well, she's such an awesome kid, who wouldn't like her? Caring, sensitive and fun-loving... she's got a personality that attracts respect and instant liking

I pray that as you get older every year, that wonderful personality that God has blessed you with will emerge more and more each day. So that you'll continue to be a greater blessing to those who love you and who are around you :)

Blessed sweet 16!

Choices

Reading recent happenings in the Christian world - preacher filing for separation from wife, lying about having a terminal illness - have got me thinking.

Choices.

Many people have detailed their feelings, thoughts and opinions over these two matters and I suppose many of you who read my blog would assume I would pass my opinion over it as well. I only have one word again.

Choices.

Choose you today what you would say or judge over this matter. The Bible clearly says what God says concerning sin, immorality, lying, cheating etc etc. Many have pronounced judgement on the two preachers and demanded an explanation.

But the Bible clearly preaches on restoration and forgiveness as well doesn't it?

So again one word from me.

Choices.

I won't comment on the two preachers. But I will pose this challenge for all to ponder upon...

One:
If an anointed person by God sins, does this wreck and wipe away all the person's previous spiritual ministry?

Two:
Do we simply write off a healing that glorifies the name of Jesus as demonic?
Because the writer of the song lied about his terminal illness, the song Healer becomes fake?

Three:
If your faith falls because of a pastor [it can be hurt, you can be disappointed, you can be angry, you can be confused and sad] then what have you been placing your faith on?

Four:
If my faith today on God disintegrates and I leave the church because one of my pastors sin, then what is my faith in reality? Am I saved through Jesus? Is my salvation based on the finished work on the cross or my pastor?

Raindrops on roses, whiskers on kittens...

There are times in the year, depending on the circumstances - people, weather, food, etc - that make me miss my three months in UK. Because, in Malaysia you would never be able to...

Sit in a gondola with a nice view around me in Cambridge.

Visit a library that actually has the "ye old library" touch ;P (local library in Liverpool)

Snap pictures of unique buildings (that's the liverpool catholic cathedral's top btw)

Visit a former outpost of a Roman legion (in Chester), see the two soldiers sparring in the middle far, far away? Spartans!!!! AHHWOOO!!!

Catch a glimpse of pirate KFCs' downtown, Malaysia has pirated DVD's only (=

Enjoy a cooling drink that looks cool (its called Ultraviolet btw)

Watch cool street dancing just outside Tesco's

Random photo opportunities with more-than-willing-strangers (who were dead drunk at 4pm in the afternoon!)

Take the London Tube to Victoria Station

Snap such an awesome sephia/colour view :)

Bella Italia's greatest concoction - - The Godfather. Me and Aichoo sampled this darling when we were in Manchester *slurp*

See a sailing ship, Merseyside harbour (the cool thing about it is there's a cross in the middle and the setting sun shines through it)

But of course.... last but not least. Though I have tons more pictures to post about UK, one of the things I DO MISS ALOT is...

*i miss the fun times we had*

Enough said =) peace out.

Wow.. finally! I managed to hit my 100th post in blogger while other kiddies and friends have probably reached their 100th like eons ago.

It's been an interesting week. Somehow, being a teacher puts you in a place where you get to observe life on a small scale. I always kills myself with laughs when I see the juniors. Secretly I think each and every one of them are cute and I wish I could hug everyone of them but I have to keep being strict. I have no idea why I'm scary to them... I never roared at them also... *blinks innocently* The only junior who probably dares to kacau me is Celiney-Beanie, Sarah Ti's baby sister :P

I realise that looks can be deceiving. Words can be deceiving and even actions can be deceiving.

Who am I kidding? The longer I am in my work place, I realise that sometimes its not those kids out there in the so called bad government schools that are cruel, sick or just plain defiant. Honestly, I see more of that in my classroom than anywhere else.

Are we setting an example? Sure we are *rolls eyes* - gossip, backbiting, defiance of rules, listening to things that you want to hear only... I mean, come on guys, my list could go on. Lets not talk about having cliques and being emo the whole time while doing all these things.

Really...

Am I being sarcastic... you can bet I am. I don't think I've ever hidden my opinions concerning Christian discipleship. Perhaps I didn't use those two words, but definitely I've used a lot of time and energy to remind, nag, ask, request, teach, impose and repeat myself many times about what it means to believe in God. Seriously... do any of us expect to see those who do not know Jesus yet come to know Jesus if we don't buck up in our own lives. I sometimes wish if people would accept Jesus just because I kept my table tidy... I'd clean my table every 5 minutes. But it never IS that easy is it?

It's about setting an example. It's about walking the talk about Jesus. You know, Jesus isn't stupid. He knew He was going to go back to heaven and He knew it was up to the disciples to carry on His work. He was all about teaching the disciples to do His work - they cast out demons, multiplied food, healed the sick, preached the gospel - in His name. They did all that! They didn't waste their time chatting idly, they knew it was serious business - - > God's business. How many people get to be partners of God? It's an honour yo!

I'm a worship leader and to tell you the truth, hands raised in worship are not necessarily raised in worship. The hearts need to be raised in worship towards Jesus Christ. Heck, no one's perfect and there are occasions where I treated my slot to worship lead as a chore more than an act of service to the One I love, but we don't just shrug our shoulders and go, "oh well, never mind, I'm sure God understands."

We move from glory to glory, faith to faith and grace to grace. We can't always be left in that state. And by the way, its never God's fault okay!!! Don't ever make your attitude problem a reason for others to blame it on God. A person who just scarcely knows GRC can say that Christians there have an attitude problem and don't watch their mouths. Like wow... who goes to GRC.

ALL OF YOU.

This is a post dedicated to all of you. I don't really care if it ticks you off to read what I write. Don't go and get angry and say, "who does she think she is? so holier than thou!"

Please, do yourself a favour. Dig a hole, sit in it and ask yourself w-h-y in the world someone who's NOT from your clique, NOT from your circle of friends, NOT close to you... can make such a clear, simple but true statement of the overall attitude of GRCians? I didn't have anything to do with it.

Grow up guys and gals. Here's a list of things that have been going on since January 2008:
1. Disregard of school authorities - by now, those who have been consistently warned... should have been suspended. If it were government school, the teachers would have left you to rot. We on the other hand at GRC, care enough. But you don't care. Does suspension even hurt any of you? No...we're just supervisors who punish you for no good reason and enjoy making life miserable for you. Wakey wakey, no matter how rebellious you are... you still have a lot to learn about life, hotshot. You'll never stand a chance in college or work acting the way you do. And oh, by the way, one fine day, you won't have your parents paying and paving the way for you every single time.

2. Gossiping / Talking behind people's back - Thanks for killing the atmosphere of holiness in the school guys and gals. There was a time when people could look at each other and not suspect that there was a secret going on. There was a time when people could actually believe that no one hated them. Now, it's changed. You don't like a person, say it straight to their face and be honest about it. Don't spoil your own image and become a gossiper.

3. Swearing - I don't need to catch you doing it. I know you do it. I don't hate you, but I do know for a fact that if swearing was EVER cool, it would have been included in a dictionary and made part of your vocabulary. I don't expect those on the worship team to give into swearing. I don't expect those who call themselves "good" in school to be nice in front of me, but swear their mouths off when they are among their cliques.

In conclusion, please... when you do tell someone your a Christian, attention is on you already. Because you're telling the person that you are a believer of Jesus. That what He does is what you would do. Would Jesus swear, be defiant and gossip? Nuh-uh! Does Jesus need to be reminded by His teachers to finish His work? Nope.

I hope and pray that one day, a friend your age who isn't a Christian will come up to you and ask you this question?

"What's so good about being a Christian?"

And after you give him a fairytale-like description... he/she's gonna say in return..

"...Really? Wow, doesn't sound like you also."

2006 vs 2007

very bad quality of editing... but yeah...

Passion, Pizza and Going Uphill

Last Sunday, praise God, I managed to make my way to Passion World Tour and spent a great time with God. Earlier I was ranting about having no tickets, thankfully a friend had two tickets and I gladly jumped for the offer and got ahold of one for myself.

It was a night where the presence of God was extremely strong. No theatrics, no special effects... just Chris Tomlin doing what he does best - worship the King of Kings. Can you imagine a full hall of 4,000 over people singing (without the music) How Great Is Our God? I think the angels came down and sang together with us as well... altogether heavenly. The preaching is an unforgettable experience. To hear about someone around my age draw closer and closer to God and suddenly come to a tragic end like that... it made me cry. I know she's in heaven, but it still made me cry.

Yesterday was the 888 event at Grace Assembly. The kids were asked to lead worship for the children church so we were there from 11am until 2pm. It was great to see the kids go all out and worship God. Wee Yen and Lydia did a great job of leading =) Was nice to have the children make a "Train" and run around the hall singing My Redeemer Lives, absolutely brilliant! After the hard work, we drove to Dominoes' near Atria and ate pizza. Of course I got horribly lost and drove in a circle around Atria to get to the pizza place thanks to both Soph + Bee Bee... hahah. But we had a great time there too... talking, laughing and joking not to mention getting hyper as well.

I really love those times when I can just let loose and not worry about anything. It was a good afternoon :)

After that sent Bee Bee and Sophira back home. Bee Bee's house looks like a fortress :P Was just telling Sophira how scared I am driving up slopes for fear the car engine dying and when we round the bend at Bandar Utama to her condo... lo and behold.. slopy drive all the way! Talk about challenges :P

Yeap. That's my one week. To echo Lydia Chang's statement on her blog post... I'm glad the worship thing is over too :) Now, I have time to do a lot of other things...

Bye, I'm off to:
1. Clean my room and Starbucks' cat tray
2. Clean the toilet
3. Wash my clothes
4. Sweep and mop the living room and kitchen
5. Go get brunch (yumyum)
